Zac Brown Band

Zac Brown Band is the band that I listen to when I fall asleep because their songs are so relaxing. But, on the other hand they have a couple that are the opposite that I love to listen to also. I like that they have that variety. One of my favorite songs by them, "Free", is so simple but I love it. The lyrics are so great and the music is really relaxing. The main lyrics of the song are:

Just as free
Free as we'll ever be

And for some reason I just love listening to this, no matter how simple it is. Another song I like that is more upbeat is "Chicken Fried", which is a pretty popular song, but it's so catchy and happy.

The Band

I think that The Band is amazing. They are so full of passion and variety. I think it is really cool that their lyrics are all written by different people; and you would think that the lyrics would seem disjointed, but it all comes together so well and all the harmonies just make it sound so good that even if the lyrics don't make sense it doesn't matter because it sounds so great. I like how they have horns like the trumpet in their songs and how in live versions they have different people singing the song "The Weight" and all of the people have so much depth in their voices and really make you feel the song. I really think that's the big issue with current music. So many artists just kind of have light lyrics and don't sing too well but it's catchy so we like it. I didn't really realize how much better it is for the artist to have passion in their voice until I listened to this band. And the live versions just make you like it so much more because you see the passion too. My favorite songs are the ones we listened to in class "The Weight", and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down".

Aaron Watson

My brother introduced me to Aaron Watson last year and I think he's awesome. He told me about him after he went to a concert of his at Midnight Rodeo. He's a pretty much unknown artist but I think he is way undercredited for his songs because he is just as good as anybody that is on the radio. My brother told me that he was really great live so I hope I get to see that sometime soon. I really do wish that he was more well known so that I could actually talk about him to people. You know those artists where you can go up to anybody and be like "Oh hey, blah blah came out with a new song, have you heard it?" and they're always like "Yeah, it's awesome!"? Well I wish that happened with Aaron Watson, so y'all should check him out. He's a really great country singer. He has an awesome voice and I really enjoy his lyrics. I have two favorite songs by him. One is off of his album The Honky Tonk Kid called "Reckless" and the other is off of his album The Road & The Rodeo called "Fast Cars and Slow Kisses". Here they are:

Red

I know a lot of people don't like Taylor Swift because she's too "mainstream" or whatever but I love Taylor Swift; and I especially love her new album Red. I like that she branched out from her normal style. It has a little bit more pop in the album for example the song "I Knew You Were Trouble". But then, she also keeps her classic ways like in the song "Begin Again". I love her normal style but I also love that I got to hear a new side of her. My favorites from the album are "Begin Again", "Everything Has Changed" (which features Ed Sheeran), "22", "I Knew You Were Trouble", and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together". So for the people that normally don't listen to Taylor Swift, I suggest that you try listening to this album because you definitely see a new side of her.

The White Album

I thought that the White Album was a little bit too random for my taste. It was kind of all over the place. For a couple of minutes you would hear a great, normal song, and then the next you would hear a really weird one that lasted 20 seconds. I didn't necessarily like that because I like it when the album all comes together as a mix of sounds that work. But this album, was random sounds and lyrics and I didn't like that. Some of my favorite songs were "Dear Prudence", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Blackbird", "Helter Skelter", and "Cry Baby Cry". Some of the weirdest or my least favorites are "Piggies" and "Revolution 9" because I think the lyrics in "Piggies" are weird and "Revolution 9" is just all around weird.

Here are videos of my favorites:

"Blackbird"

And least favorite out of all:

"Revolution 9"

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is my loveee. He writes the greates songs like ever. I just recently heard about him and was kind of like "why is everyone so obsessed with him, no one could ever be that great"..but he is. The second you listen to his album you fall in love. First of all, he has the voice of an angel. Second of all, he has a lot of variety in his songs. Thirdly, all of his songs are catchy and I can literally listen to them on repeat for hours. He kind of reminds me of John Mayer but his sound is more of a pop sound than soft rock, like John Mayer (my other love). His album "+" is amazing. Here are some of my favorites from that album:

"Lego House"

"The A Team"

"Drunk"

I really like these songs because it's something new and different. I haven't really heard someone like this and songs that are a mix of pop and John Mayer basically and I love it.

Magical Mystery Tour

I think that Magical Mystery Tour is one of the Beatle's best albums. I honestly don't understand how these were the songs that didn't make the cut for Sgt. Peppers because I think that the album is like 10 times better. Don't get me wront, Sgt. Peppers had some really awesome songs like "A Little Help From My Friends" and "A Day In The Life". I just think that this album had a much greater quanitity of awesome songs. It kind of contradicting for me though, because I love Paul McCartney and have always thought that his songs were better and his singing was better than everybody elses; but this album is all John, and even though it's a little weird and creepy, you can't help but not like it. My favorites from this album are "I Am The Walrus", "Hello Goodbye", "Baby You're a Rich Man", and "All You Need Is Love".

What I also love so much about the Beatles is that they always sound good, whether they are on the recording or they are playing live, they always kill it. That's what I think is so cool and attracting about the Beatles: they always sound awesome, live or not.

Favorites:

"I Am The Walrus"

"Hello Goodbye"

"Baby You're a Rich Man"

"All You Need Is Love"

I also want to add that their music video for "I Am The Walrus" is priceless and their mustaches in this time period really gross me out.

Chris Young

Chris Young is a country singer who I love. I need to see him in concert like immediately. He has a really deep voice and he sings amazingly live. He has the prettiest voice and I especially like the lyrics to his songs. His album that came out a while ago is called Neon and I still listen to it all the time because I just don't get tired of his music or his voice. My favorites on that album are "Neon", "You" and "Tomorrow". I also like the songs "The Man I Want to be" and "Voices" on the album the Man You Want to be.

Here are some song lyrics that I really love from the song "You"

The bluest skies don't seem so blue
And the stars seem to be a little dimmer too
Now that your around you put them all to shame
Let me break it down because I'm trying to say is

No one gets me like you when you kiss me, girl
You rock me harder than some down town band
I thought I knew what love was but I didn't have a clue
I never found anything that makes me feel like I do about you

I love these lyrics so much just because they are so sweet. Here are the videos of the songs that I like

"Tomorrow"

"Voices"

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

I thought this album was alright. Definitley not my favorite but it did have some really good songs on it. I like that it was kind of a fun album not all dark and serious like some of their other albums and/or songs. Paul McCartney is my absolute favorite beatle, so when I see his influence in this album it makes me like it more. I really like how some of the songs on this album had an orchestral influence and also just an orchestra in the background. I think it sounds really cool to add that stuff in and I like that the Beatles were being experimental. I do think that they kind of stole some ideas from the Beach Boys album Pet Sounds, but that's what people do in music I guess; someone finds something cool, then everyone uses it. In a way that's good, but I think that that's also what can make certain genres of music boring for you: when everyone is doing the same thing. And I think that the Beatles kind of did that to the Beach Boys: stole their cool sounds so that they would sound cool. For example, they both used crazy sounds like dogs barking and stuff like that, and the Beach Boys were kind of orchestral also. The annoying thing is that everyone thought that pet sounds was a dud of an album when in actuality I liked it better than Sgt. Peppers. Sgt. Peppers was at the top of the billboard for something like 27 weeks in the UK and 15 at number 1 in the US, but the Beach Boys barely got noticed back then for their amazing album. Anyways, here are my favorite songs on Sgt. Peppers are:

"A Little Help from my Friends"

"A Day in the Life"
